MY LIFE WITH STAMMERING

My name is Ashok Mohan and I am from Kerala. I am going to
narrate few situations faced in my life due to stammering.

I stammered from my childhood. I was not bothered about
stammering in the early years but things got changed when I grow up.
During +2 days at school, I used to travel by bus. The fare
to my place from school is Rs 3.50. I can’t say the name of my place since the
word is not coming out of my mouth. So, I simply give the exact fare to the
conductor. One day on return to home, I don’t have the exact fare. So I walked
all the way to my home.
On another occasion, when I was chatting with my friend, he
told me that he has also developed stammering because he was having friendship
with me for years.
During college days, there occurred several incidents that
made me depressed. I know the roll number but I can’t say it many times. I
can’t keep up  with my friends during
conversation. I think they were avoiding me. During 6th semester, we were
having seminars. All my friends got tensed the day before seminar. But in this
case, I won. I got tensed years before the seminar. I fore calculated what will
be my performance for the seminar that I will get rejected.
There were several situations that made me think that my
life is like a hell due to stammering. I wasted my time  and money for a magical cure for stammering
and ended up in a failure.
But the reality was not what I thought? The seminar head
told the class that the best seminar was mine. I can say the place name
correctly for many times but I stammered only for a few situations. The
conductor has 2 options. Either he should wait for me to complete the place
name or he should allow me to travel as a free passenger. Why should I bother
when my friend told a cheap comedy that he caught stammering when speaking with
me for years? There are fools among people like him who can’t know what
stammering is.
Who is the real villain here? Is that stammering? No. Its
NOT. There real villain is our thoughts. We are normal people. There are people
without legs, arms, eyes who are still living. Then why are we wasting our life
thinking about this very very very silly matter called stammering?  We are looking forward to our life based on
stammering like “should  I get a
better job because of stammering, should I get a good family life because of
stammering etc”.  Change your
thoughts. If our thoughts are positive, then our life will also be positive. If
our thoughts are negative, then our life will also be negative. Its not
stammering who decides what your life is. Its is you who decides what your life
is. NEVER EVER GIVE UP IN FRONT OF STAMMERING. Just enjoy it.
