Organizing an Event?

2017 has been an eventful year for TISA! Many local SHGs have come forward and taken the initiative to organize workshops and mini-seminars to help the PWS community. This is a great service and certainly a BIG contribution to what TISA stands for- “self help”.

We invite more SHG coordinators to come forward and organize events. All you have to do is, stick to the following guidelines when organizing an event under the TISA banner. Let us define the guidelines so that we know what we have to do, when we organize a TISA event. This holds true for the national events too like NC:

  1. Announcement: It is important that we have a prior announcement on TISA blogs and channels with Date, time and venue and a tentative plan / agenda for the event. Contributions / registration amount if any should also be shared at this stage. Prior announcements help reach out to the audience and also helps the participants in planning better for the event.
  2. Report: It is very important to document events and share it with wider audience. Include as many visuals like photos, videos and of course the report of what all happened during the event. This serves many purposes. Others planning to organize events can refer this to get ideas. New people coming to our website can read this and understand what TISA is all about and what really happens during our events, what we offer. Media and other stakeholders who want to know about TISA also get to know about our activities.
  3. Financial Report: Financial transparency is of utmost important. TISA always claims of being a non-profit organization. Having a financial report, a statement of how much money was collected, how much was spent and what will happen to extra money (if any) will build a trust within the community.

Having this on one single post (update the same post as and how event progresses) will be ideal and easy to refer. Let’s host more events, but with high standards of integrity.

    Thanks Harish!
Exactly what we discussed and what I felt is needed for a long time. Some streamlining, is needed, to avoid confusion and repetition.
I will just add, that any event which goes on TISA blog or TISA site, has to represent TISA values and must take National Coordinator in confidence. (Other than that, as a community, everyone is free to do what they think best in their own space and time.)
