Acceptance in action

I request to each & every stammer person to read this article. I’m lucky that
I have come to know this fact.

There is a term in psychology: “The Law of Reverse Effect”

It is the ultimate solution for stammering.

So the solution is:

Make your stammering totally voluntary.
Dont try to stop stammering, rather try to stammer with each & every word.
Keep in mind that you shouldnt miss a single word without stammering.
Dont run away from stammering, rather than show the world how good stammer
you are.
Stammer on each & every word without missing a single one.
Even if a word is easier for you & you can say it without stammering, please
stammer in each & every word.

What will be the effect of this……???

A magic will happen….

Within a second, you will feel that…….

You were born as a non stammer.
For the first time, you will be able to find your natural rhythm of speech; not
the artificial one that speech therapist teaches you.

You will feel like a doer, a controller of stammering.
You will feel that stammering is not controlling you, but you are controlling
the stammering; you are the master of stammering & you can drive it the way you

Perhaps stammering is not the only problem; the problem is that it happens
automatically, involuntary, without any control & particular pattern of stammer.

He doesn’t know for how many seconds the next word will be prolonged or

And a stammer takes the laughing of a non-stammer very emotionally.

Without any exception, a stammer needs to become a great joker & a great actor.

He should adopt the attitude that every breath is a fun & a play.

For him, seriousness should be the greatest sin.

He has to become like a child.

If people laugh on stammer, it is ok. If they dont laugh, it is also ok. Both
the situations are equal & fun….

A stammer’s emotions or say his ego get hurt when people make faces for his
ugly stammering, when people show compassion or when people laugh.

Please drop this emotions & ego.

If we serve the society with our good speech, society will return the same

So please dont blame society or any non-stammer people who laugh on you. Stop

Come out of the ideal images of an action movie-hero, an intelligent scholar, a
good earner, a corporate & disciplined person, a playboy, a pillar of knowledge.
All these false roles are imposed by society & they might be one of the causes
of stammering.

Become like a child, or become like your knowledge less & egoless mom. Become a

Start following people. Run after them, stop strangers on the road, start asking
them nonsense questions, stammer as much as you can & find fun in this
activity……If you cannot talk in office, please take at least 3 months of
break from your routine life. Sleep for only 6 hours a day & rest of the 18
hours talk & stammer & laugh with people as much as you can.

Generally the situation is that a stammer always run away from people & keep his
silence. It must be changed. People should run away from you after they come to
see you. Just catch them. Dont let them run away from you. Give them some
doses of your speech.

No need to become a serious & wise person…..become a laughing joker, a
stammering joker.

Take a pledge that I will talk to everyone, even with animals, trees & stones;
without missing a single occasion. I will run after people to talk with them.
And I will never try to stop my stammering. I will stammer in each & every word.

E.g. my name is Nilesh. Even if I can say it without stammering, I will say it
like I…I…I.. a..a..m ………. Ni…Ni…Ni..Nilesh. I will keep stuttering
voluntarily & I will keep smiling. Everything is a play, a fun, there is nothing
to take emotionally, and after all, seriousness is the greatest sin. If I am
stammering in front of a thousand non-stammer scholars & if they are annoyed
with the way I speak……it is their problem, not mine. I will express honestly
whatever is within me. I will not hide it. I will not fight with me.

This sentence “I will not fight with me” is very important. We, stammers are
split into two parts. E.g. someone asks me to raise the left hand. Suppose, I am
trying to raise my left hand and at the same time I am trying to stop it by my
right hand. Isn’t this ridiculous?

I am split into two personalities. I am not the whole thing. As a stammer, I am
the only enemy of mine. I am trying to speak & at the same time, I am trying to
block my speech. My inner forces are not in one direction. They are in

So, I should not fight with me. I should not stop my stammer. I should stammer
as much as I can. I should become one. Only by doing this, I can become a whole

You will see the results instantly.

I bet, the non-stammer listener will think that this stammer has got guts. First
time he will think that this stammer can compete with me.

So, please become a great joker & a great actor.

In psychology, the technique is known as “The Law of Reverse Effect”.

i.e. when things happen automatically against our wish, take the reverse

Another (& the most important) thing I want to add is…….

Well, it is not related to stammering. It is not limited to any particular
religion. It is a very common truth.

Gautama Buddha has said that one should keep watching, one should keep observing
oneself in all the activities……for 24 hours… for 24 x 60 x 60
seconds…..whether you are seeing, eating, working, running, dancing….. or
whatever doing..…just keep watching yourself.

I request you; please keep watching yourself when you stammer consciously.

The only difference between living & dead is watchfulness, consciousness &

So please……. Stammer as much as you can, laugh as much as you can…. But
don’t forget to keep watching it.

Even when you stop stammering in future…keep watching yourself for 24 x 60 x
60 seconds a day….in all the activities… Alertness, watchfulness &
playfulness (taking everything as a fun) is the greatest prayer….a common
teaching of all the religions….

In India, living with the absence of awareness & playfulness is known as “Leela”
or “Maya”…& a constant awareness, watchfulness & playfulness is known as

All the best

    Thanks for sharing Nilesh.

It’s really tough to begin with this technique initially. Here comes this proverb handy “When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going”. It need a spiritual mindset which we can learn after practicing yoga and meditation regularly.
