TISA Hyderabad chapter: meeting Report : 24th Aprl 2016

This week, the presence of two senior most TISA members helped us to learn more about stammering. Both of them contributed to the meeting with their wide experience & depth of knowledge . Ok,let me reveal their names. They are non other than our Rajesh and Shivaji .

The session this time focused more on the often ignored simple but must to do things by anyone who want to overcome the stammering.

Rajesh came out with a set of things ,which are really helpful to us.They are :

A. Maintain a book on stammering : John Harrison , a famous personality could overcome his stammering because he noted down all his thoughts ,emotions in book when he faced stammering . So, Rajesh told us to maintain a book where we share both our positive and negative incidents about stammering .

B. No limit thinking : We shouldn’t have limitations on our thought process.By unnecessarily thinking too much about the stammering ,we will stammer for sure, when we talk. Hence ,believe yourself to the core that you are the best person, in fact a master piece …!!!

C. Be a master in your field :  No matter your poor communication skills, once you have a strong command on your skills,no one can stop you reaching your goal except ” you “.

D. Stick to your technique : Everyone has their own style of stammering, So does their technique like slow speaking ,bouncing etc..Yes ,it is true that once when a situation arrives where we need to speak ,we stammer horribly .

But never mind TISA mates .The answer lies in working more hard on our technique . For sure, we will overcome it one day. I have 100 % confidence on our abilities .Let us work together as a team to do that  .

E. Be an active member :
By attending the meeting regularly , taking initiative to talk during the meeting .

Rajesh gave suitable examples to make the above points much clear. In between our Shivaji also played his part by sharing his rich experiences and thoughts. For example,he practices voluntary stammering during his travel in train ,bus with his fellow passengers on a daily basis . He said that ,out of 10 people , only 1 would laugh at us when we stammer .Remaining people are so kind and polite . This was the important lesson we need to learn from Shivaji .

Chinni and Dileep were given opportunity to talk more in the meeting , which they have utilized brilliantly . Chinni sang a song from Gazini ,which is one of the highlights of our meeting.

Later ,we took a selfie to wind up the meeting.

TISA mates who attended the meeting : Rajesh, Shivaji ,Dileep ,Chinni , Ravi Teja , Surya and of course myself …!!!

Warm Regards,
Eshwar.

    Thank you Eshwar and Ramu..
Rajesh and Shivaji are 100% right. There are many simple and small things, which we can do to help ourselves – IF we really want to help ourselves. Some of these things are so simple and easy- that many pws dont take them seriously. But as your post mentions- keeping a journal or trying to excel at your job etc. – are not Rocket science.

Please try and see if your group can come to Goa for NC- to meet the BIG family!
My best regards to all of you!
