Dear all, Greetings from TISA.
Hope you are doing good. As you may already be aware that TISA is conducting its National Get Together this year at Coorg ( http://www.rkarthik.in/national_conference_TISA_2012/ ). While some of you have already registered and booked your tickets, some may still be waiting for the things to be more clear in either professional or personal space as to how things might be around 29th September to 1st October to decide on their participation. If you need any help with decision making or have any queries about the event, feel free to contact Dinesh or Karthik (in cc). Both of them are from Banglore SHG and are doing most of the work required to make this event possible.
TISA has and will always be thankful to all of you who have devoted their time and money to keep this movement of self help active, alive and meaningful. This year too we have got around 5-8 requests for financial help from students and people who cannot afford the costs of trip to Coorg. Most of them have booked their train tickets and sent their PNR numbers so as to show their commitment to attend the event. We would be very grateful if you can extend any kind of financial help to these deserving young people. You may be helping to transform their lives. As many of us have experienced, being in a room full of 50 pws can be a very liberating and life transforming experience. After the event, we will post a complete detailed list of fund raised and expenses (link to last year’s NC expenses) . We are looking to raise around Rs 35000. (July 26, 2012 - 12:30 pm)TISA team should give BANK account no. Of such bank, which BANK's branches are EASILY AVAILABLE all over india. As all people don't have net banking facility. And even it is hard to spare time for their own personal work in busy life, I think it is practically not possible to travel in metro cities or from town to city (many kilometers), just to donate money??

मुझे india speech therapy centre आमेर (जयपुर) में कई PWS से मिलने का मौका मिला एक साल तक (I used to go every weekends up to one year) । अधिकतर PWS मध्यम वर्ग से थे । लगभग सबकी एक सी कहानी थी । जैसा कि मध्यम वर्ग परिवारों में होता है, पैसा आने से पहले ही खर्च करने की योजनाए बन जाती है, उस पर कई आक्समिक खर्चे (शादी, बिमारी आदि). ऐसे हालात मे एक PWS को, जो अपनी हकलाहट के बारे में हर किसी से छिपाता है, Speech therapy के लिये अपने parents से बात करना भी एक बहुत साहस की बात थी ।
अधिकांश PWS को अपने Parents से speech therapy लेने के लिए बोलने में ही कई साल लग गये । जब तक stammering की severity बहुत बढ़ चुकी थी । और जब हिम्मत जुटा कर कहा भी तो parents का जवाब था -घर में तो तुम ठीक बोलते हो, सिर्फ़ तुम्हारा डर है, दर्पण के सामने practice क्यो नही करते ? (as all general indian Doctor advise)
कुछ के हालात इतने विकट भी थे कि वो अपने ही घर से पैसे चुराकर speech therapy लेने आये थे । एक PWS के parents को हालात की विकटता का एहसास तब हुआ जब PWS ने आत्महत्या की कौशिश की ।
हो सकता है आपके donation से किसी की जिंदगी बच जाये या सुधर जाये ।
बूंद बूंद से ही घडा भरता है ।

कहते है- इतिहास स्वयं को दोहराता है- क्योंकि हम इतिहास को पढते नही या – हमसे इतिहास छिपाया जाता है। हकलाने की थिरैपी मेँ भी ऐसा ही कुछ हो रहा है। आपने आमेर के अनुभव बाँट कर बहुत बडी समाज सेवा की है..
तीसा समुदाय को इससे सबक लेना चाहिये..
