Kanpur SHG meeting report

Kanpur SHG members

We had the Kanpur SHG meet today at Motijheel.

A new member ,Akash also joined us.He came from Gonda (about 200 kms away from Kanpur) for this meet.We started by giving a brief introduction of each other followed by the explanation of 1 technique by each member.We went across the park and talked to each other using bouncing .It was actually fun. We also explained to some people about stammering, about TISA and the reason of doing bouncing and voluntary stammering .

I felt like all of the members had this feeling “I can do it ” and ” I will do it”.From the stage
” i can’t do it “, at least we have climbed up the stairs and thats what is more important.

Glad to see the Kanpur is rocking. It has just started a month back and the progress has been awesome. Keep it.

Loved the picture. This is what TISA is all about – in its purest form- pws helping each other selflessly and having fun while doing so!
This is the shortest route to recovering from stammering mindset..

Congratulations to Karan and other 3 members. It was really great to see that SHG meeting at Kanpur is being held regularly. It's heartening to know that one pws traveled about 200km to attend this meeting. Hats off to him.

Since there is no medical cure and available therapy almost always ends in relapse and self-blame, it makes sense to develop problem solving skills on our own: you would surely learn to fix running repairs if you are going on a world tour, instead of carrying your mechanic with you. It is all the more useful since it is practiced in a group. You develop social and communication skills, instead of chasing fluency alone. TISA promotes four core techniques: Bouncing, Prolongation, Pausing and Voluntary stammering. In addition, we share and practice many more skills/ approaches: listening, Body language, team skills, leadership, self-assertion, peer counseling- above all being a member of a vibrant community, through fair give and take.
