The Key thing for interview

Dear Friends,

Toady i had an interview in IBM.i couldn’t sleep yesterday night because of the fear. How will i answers to the questions of interviewer. In the morning i went there(I strongly believe in Sai Baba,i was just praying to God “pls help me”) But it was over all a good interview by Sai Baba’s grace. They didn’t ask me much questions as i was expecting(may be they didn’t have much time as i was speaking very slow with stammering). But whatever they asked me i gave the right answer.I am not thinking about the result.Whether they select me or not i m just happy that i did my best.Yes i stammered many times but it was good experience for me.

In my all previous interviews every time i thought before interview that i will accept my stammering in front of interviewer so that he can mentally prepare for me but couldn’t do because of embarrassment.

The one thing i did in this interview, which i wanted to do in my all previous 13 interviews, that before starting the interview i told them(With great courage) that i have stammering problem and i speak very slow. They said its fine, there is no problem.I then felt mentally relief, didn’t feel any embarrassment and did my best.

Its my personal experience : if you don’t tell the interviewer before starting the interview that you are a stammerer(definitely its not an easy task) he will not mentally prepare for you.he will just thinking that you are a normal person and ask you according to that. You will definitely Stammer because of the fear and the pressure to speak fluent. He will feel uncomfortable. He will stop you and ask that do u have any speech problem and that time you will feel embarrassment. You will stammer more and more and Rest is the history. You cann’t say whatever you want to say after that.

The area where i should concentrate is breathing.I didn’t take much breath at that time. This is the main problem.

But It was first time a really nice experience for me to face interview.I was just thinking that time that they should ask me more questions. i was really enjoying which i was missing in my previous interviews. Now i can accept in my further interviews and it will help me a lot.

The funniest thing is that if u dare to accept u r disability in interview or any other place u can then easily say whatever u want to say (Yes u will stammer but that time u will not feel ashamed.U will not concentrate on your speech rather than you will concentrate on whatever you want to say)

I want to thank TISA,Sachin Sir,Mr. Hiten Vyas ,JP and all other fellow members for giving me Confidence & feeling that i can do everything with stammering. No one can beat me if i have courage to live with dignity.

Soyez heureux 🙂

Great! 2 things strike me at once:
    1. If you have courage to accept that you stammer, you are at once set free from your inhibitions and fears..This is a rare kind of COURAGE. Anyone who has it, will certainly come out of stuttering mindset someday soon..

    2. When you start enjoying talking- when you strat wishhing that they would ask more questions in an interveiw..you are graduated to a level- where talking is no more a dreadful effort- but something you look forward too.. Then, naturally, you speak well- because the capacity to speak is already within you..is it not?

Vaibhav, you have lots to teach & share. Why dont you write a series: "Dummies guide to Interviews"?

I also did same thing about accepting the stammering. I was good and never the interviewer said they had any problem. Only, during one of the telephone interview which to be scheduled… they told it will difficult for the tech team your interview 'coz of your stammering. I said OK and moved on.

Sachin, sir can you please guide how to take up telephone interviews..

Thanks Vaibhav for sharing your experience so candidly..I am sure it will help a lot of us…

@Tanoy – You can practice ur telephonic interview skills by setting up some mock interviews with some fellow PWS and also by attending a lot of telephonic interviews for jobs which you don't intend to join 😉
