SHARE YOUR STUTTER

Hi folk,
How are you all?

As some of you know that I am based in Italy and working in an Italian company. I would like to share a good experience which I had today in early morning in my office .

Today it was a routine day in office. Here in Italy we have a custom of going for caffè in morning and after lunch. So today in morning me and my colleague went for a caffè during this we were having some normal conversation, he asked me “So Kishore when you woke up in morning today” I told its 5:30.. he got little surprised to hear this ..he was quite curious to know more.. like why I woke up so early? ..had I have to cook my breakfast and do the dishes? :-).

Initially I was little uncomfortable to tell him the truth ..but finally I mustered some courage and spoke that.. I have a difficulty in speech …my voice get stuck involuntarily when I speak…sometimes its get worst and other times its just normal like you,,(he nodded in agreement …he told yes I observed many times) so to live against this problem I do my therapies (like meditation, breathing, articulation and prolongation ) in morning and evening (before and after office..Its 1 hr in morning and 1:30hr in evening). I briefed him about stuttering..what it is called in India US UK and Italy. After sharing this little piece of information with him I felt a complete blank in my head.. Many thoughts crossed in my mind.. like does he know about stuttering?.. Will he behave differently after this?..Have I make a fool of myself?..:-)..and many more such thoughts.

I Know this guy for a year now he is a very sensitive person (funny at same time..he hogs the limelight in a group). He appreciated my hard work and contributes his option about this problem. He asked me questions like “Did you meet such people?” .I told him I know hundreds of such people not only in India but a few in Italy too, I saw a positive smile on his face 🙂 . He told me that many times back, he watched a French doctor on TV, This doctor had invented a technique which can help stutterers (yes you all know) …speak in a rhythmic or slow manner. He questioned me is it possible for you to sing without any struggle ..I nodded in unison :-). He told me that some people might get irritate with your stuttering but with me it’s not an issue..You feel good about yourself don’t judge people reactions.

Later when we came back to our seat I showed him some Italian videos on Stuttering/Balbuzie. Glad I Share my stuttering… Compare to others days I am feeling a little light today. A little loose from my emotional baggage.
So guys what are you waiting for..Never miss an opportunity to educate others about Stuttering. Don’t go for pros and cons… :-).

Bye take care friends
Have a nice day.

Best Regards

Right on the path. Long journey- but it is important to know that you are going in the right direction. Such sharing, not only lessens the emotional issues related to stammering- but also makes you a more genuine and transparent individual..
Keep it up and keep sharing..
