Case Study: “Ravi’s Turning Point”

Part 1.

Ravi, a 24-year-old graduate, had struggled with Stuttering since childhood. In school he managed, but in college and job interviews his speech blocks became more noticeable. After a few failed interviews, he began avoiding conversations, stopped meeting friends, and refused to answer phone calls.

He would often say, “My life is wasted. I can’t even speak properly—what can I do?”

At home he became withdrawn. His parents noticed he was not just struggling with speech, but with hopelessness and shame.

Part 2: Turning point

One day, Ravi helped a villager fill an online form at a CSC center. He struggled while speaking—but completed the task. The person thanked him sincerely.

That evening, Ravi said:

“I still stammer… but maybe my life is not completely useless.”

This was the shift—from “perfect speech” → “useful communication.”

Outcome

Over a few months:

  • His avoidance reduced
  • Confidence improved
  • Speech became more controlled (not perfect, but functional)
  • He started part-time digital service work

Most importantly, his core belief changed:
👉 from “My life is wasted”
👉 to “I can still live meaningfully, even with stammering.”
