TISA Bihar SHG Meeting Report – October 6, 2024

Hello Everyone,

We wanted to share some highlights from our Self Help Group (SHG) meeting that took place on October 6th, 2024, at Gandhi Maidan.

It was a fantastic session with both new and familiar faces, and we had some great conversations!

Location: Gandhi Maidan
Time: 10 AM – 1 PM
Attendees: Naresh, Ravi Ranjan, Mohit, Krishnan

Meeting Highlights:

  1. Morning Routine: We started the session with sun gazing and yoga therapy, a practice suggested by Dhruv, our National Coordinator for 2024. This helped us feel energized and focused.
  2. Guided Meditation: Next, we did a calming guided meditation session. With the help of a Bluetooth speaker, everyone followed along peacefully, which helped us relax both body and mind.

  1. Speech Techniques Practice: Naresh led a session where we practiced various speech techniques from TISA (The Indian Stammering Association). Everyone got a chance to try these techniques and feel more comfortable with their speech.
  2. Speaking with Strangers: After that, we practiced speaking with strangers. There were some martial arts trainees nearby, so we took the opportunity to educate them about stammering and the work TISA does. They were curious and happy to learn more, realizing that stammering is not really an “issue.”

  1. Public Speaking: Mohit demonstrated public speaking techniques on stage. He shared an important tip: “When you’re on stage, it’s your space, and you know your topic better than anyone else. So, be confident!” He also emphasized the importance of voice modulation while speaking.
  2. Communication Skills from Modi Ji’s Speech: We learned three key communication tips from a recent speech by Modi Ji:
    • Body language is crucial.
    • Eye contact makes a big difference.
    • Stay on topic—don’t get distracted while speaking.
  3. Inspiring Journey: We were all inspired by Ravi Ranjan, a new member from Aurangabad, who traveled 5 hours by train to join us. He started his journey at 5 AM, and his dedication is truly commendable.

  1. Sharing Experiences: Finally, we shared our experiences from the National Conference in Jaipur 2024, which brought back great memories. Mohit also brought some snacks and biscuits, making the end of the meeting even more enjoyable.

Overall, it was a day filled with learning, sharing, and connecting.

We can’t wait for the next SHG meeting!

Stay tuned for more updates and hope to see you all at the next session!

Best regards,
The TISA Patna SHG Team
